I enjoy coming to campus every day and being with the incredible students. They bring me joy, and watching them develop and discover who they are as the year passes is an indescribable feeling. There is seldom a dull moment, and I'm challenged on every level. Every day is a learning experience. Few other jobs can really be learning experiences all the time, but when you're dealing with so many personalities and moving parts that is the teaching and coaching day, you just never know what you'll learn. Teaching is both noble and challenging. It takes a long time to truly nurture and grow.

I love to teach for many reasons. The first reason is because I want to be a role model to my students and all students who have my class or know about my class. I want to teach the students the importance of respecting, loving and caring for one another in and out of school. The reason I teach is for the future. I teach to make sure this generation understands that education is far greater and doesn't stop in the classroom and that how we carry ourselves in and out of school should have a purpose and a why.

As I grew older and entered my college years, I realized that I enjoyed working with young adults, so I decided to become a teacher. I want to try and make a positive impact on my students and encourage them to become their best version of themselves, just like I was inspired when I was younger.

Why I Teach

As the oldest child out of five children, my parents instilled in me the joy of reading. It was a way of finding adventures that I would take me to places I never knew existed. It was my way of traveling, exploring, and finding adventures in different places of the world without leaving my home.

As an adult, I learned about the power of words whether written, spoken, or sung they can inspire others to reach their fullest potential. The power of positivity in life, the power of believing that one was made for greater things, and that those things are achievable. I know and teach that behind every child there is great potential. I understand that teachers are the catalyst of learning so that students can propel themselves to new levels in their physical, social, emotional, and academic life.

Why I Teach

Gravity keeps us connected to the ground. We can't see it, but we see and feel its effect. The wind keeps us cool, provides us with energy, and changes our weather. We can't see it, but we can see and feel its effect. A dream, idea, or belief is not visible unless one person or being chooses to act upon it. This could be in the form of a painting, a drawing, a poem or some other creative art expression. To express an idea that could change the world, one must obtain certain skills. This creates a need for a teacher, coach, or mentor. I teach because I was created to inspire the next generation of leaders. I teach to keep our future Superheroes grounded on good principles, cool in thought and actions, and energized so that their ideas may become visible. I teach so that the world can enjoy the gifts of my students and see and feel their effect.

Why I Teach

In my twenties, I started thinking about the how and why of everything, and eventually, I realized that, for the most part, the only reason I didn't know something was simply because I hadn't been taught. Why can that person disassemble and reassemble an engine and I can't? They were taught, and I wasn't. Sometime later, reflecting, I started to see what I could have done, what I could have been. I then promised myself that my students would get those chances I missed.
